Help NM Summer Youth Academy Places Intern at Mora Creative Council
Hi, I am Candace A. Valencia and I recently graduated from Mora High School. I have been fortunate enough to have taken dual credit classes with Luna Community College. I have completed my general classes and I am only a few credits shy from my certification in Business. I plan to major in Business Administration and become a certified Esthetician. I have been accepted into Santa Fe Community College and the University of New Mexico. Throughout my high school I have played multiple sports and took on any job that I could during my school breaks and summer vacations.
Last summer I joined the program HelpNM, which helped me get a job at the clinic in Mora, NM. During this experience, I learned so much and had lots of fun with my co-workers. I was placed at the financial department, but I was able to learn different jobs at the site. This gave me more experience with customer service, insurance claims, paperwork filling and organization. While working at the clinic, I was fortunate enough to get my HIPPA certification along with my CPR certification. I loved the experience and friends I made through this program. It was very generous at the end of the program for my co-workers to take me out to eat as a proper goodbye. This summer I joined the help program again and I am placed at the Mora Creative Council and I am super excited to learn and experience working with a non-profit organization.
